By Kitty Crowther
A renowned author and illustrator, Kitty Crowther often expresses herself through books that have become classics on children's bookshelves. Her work has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Astrid Lindgren Prize in 2010. But for some years now, she has been giving her work more freedom, developing it outside books, through exhibitions and collaborations. In 2021, during the second confinement period, she embarked on a series that was not originally intended for publication. No doubt in response to the need to faces and question the human form, she drew dozens of heads which, two years later, made up a body of almost 150 drawings. The book Face the Day contains around a hundred of these drawings, along with a selection of monotypes created during a residency at the RLD studios in 2022.
